Robert Hazard, the Philadelphia-raised musician, songwriter and a star of many Camp Jam Festivals, and the writer of hits such as Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” died yesterday, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Hazard’s longtime friend and former manager Bill Eid confirmed the news earlier today. Robert Hazard would have been 60 on Aug. 21. Hazard had surgery in Boston last week related to his cancer. He had recently postponed tour dates due to his health. We all have memories of his music from the past and really dug his newer folkier material that we all got to hear at Camp Jam. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those that were close to him. We’ve lost another friend and we will miss him.
